The inaugural lecture of the Yintai Salon, initiated by the "Jiang Family and Modern Chinese History Research Program" in December 2015

On the evening of December 13, 2015, a series of lectures initiated by the Yintai Public Welfare Foundation's "Jiang Family and Modern Chinese History Research Program" was held for the first time at the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University.

Mr. Yang Tianshi, a renowned historian and chief scholar of the "Chiang Family and Modern Chinese History Research Program", gave a wonderful lecture titled "The Person of Chiang Kai shek". The "Jiang Family and Modern Chinese History Research Program" is an academic public welfare project initiated by the Yintai Public Welfare Foundation, dedicated to long-term support and funding for innovative academic research, publication of academic achievements, dissemination of academic achievements in related fields, and conducting salvage oral history collection.

“ The "Jiang Family and Modern Chinese History Research Program" series of lectures aims to inspire the guiding role of history in the present, convey valuable academic research results to the public, and influence society.

Mr. Yang Tianshi is currently a researcher at the Institute of Modern History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He has been dedicated to the study of Chiang Kai shek for over thirty years and is known as the "first person to study Chiang Kai shek". He has authored several research monographs, including "Chiang Kai shek's Secret Files and the Truth about Chiang Kai shek", "Searching for the Real Chiang Kai shek: An Interpretation of Chiang Kai shek's Diaries", and "Searching for the Mystery of History: Politics and Figures in Modern China".

In this lecture, Mr. Yang Tianshi provided a comprehensive interpretation of Chiang Kai shek from the perspectives of the significance of correctly evaluating Chiang Kai shek, the authenticity of Chiang Kai shek's diary, and the evaluation of his merits and demerits. Combining with current hot topics, he emphasized Chiang Kai shek's attitude and measures towards official corruption, land policy, and territorial sovereignty. At the end of the lecture, Mr. Yang Tianshi interacted with the live audience.
