Shen Guojun Meets with US President Obama's Science Advisor
On March 21, 2016, Mr. Shen Guojun, Chairman of Intime Group, Founder of Intime Charity Foundation, and Executive Chairman of Taohuayuan Ecological Protection Foundation, welcomed Ms. Jane Lubchenco, former Director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), on behalf of Intime Charity Foundation and Taohuayuan Ecological Protection Foundation. Ms. Lopuchenko is a renowned marine scientist from the United States, serving as a director of the Packard Foundation, a member of the TNC Global Board of Directors, and a member of President Obama's Science Advisory Group. She is currently visiting China as the US government's special envoy for marine science.

Mr. Shen and Ms. Lopchenko had a detailed discussion on the "Blue Pioneer" program for cultivating marine conservation professionals, which was jointly initiated by the Parkde Foundation, the Peach Blossom Spring Ecological Protection Foundation, and the Intime Charity Foundation. The "Blue Pioneer" program is a "training+public welfare" venture capital program that aims to cultivate over 100 professionals engaged in marine conservation in China in the next 10 years and incubate 20 private organizations specializing in marine conservation. The first phase of the "Blue Pioneer" program has been launched among students at Peking University Guanghua School of Management.
During the meeting, Ms. Lopchenko highly appreciated Mr. Shen's advocacy of using commercial methods for public welfare management, driven by the concept of shared values, and operated in a platform based manner. She also expressed sincere admiration for the forward-looking initiative of Yintai Group, Yintai Public Welfare Foundation, Peking University, and Peking University Guanghua School of Management to jointly establish China's first master's program in social welfare management.
Mr. Shen and Ms. Lopchenko both expressed their pleasure at the launch of the "Blue Pioneer" program and hoped that through the implementation of this program, they could make up for the lack of Chinese marine protection institutions and talents, and help China and the global marine protection cause.
