Hangzhou Dongpo Grand Theater is newly opened

On the evening of October 12th, with the stunning premiere of the light dance drama "White Snake" carefully crafted by renowned playwright Lin Zhaohua, the Dongpo Grand Theater, as an important cultural landmark in Hangzhou, officially reopened.

Dongpo Grand Theater is located in the Yintai in77 area on the lakeside. It was founded in the 1980s and has always been an important carrier and symbol of the cultural and tourism connotation of West Lake in Hangzhou. It not only provides consumers with rich cultural products, but also enhances the cultural taste of Hangzhou city.

Since the end of 2018, Hangzhou Donghan Cultural Communication Co., Ltd. has been jointly established by Intime Group, Hangzhou Performing Arts Group, Shangtou Group, and Hangzhou Scenery Culture to upgrade and transform the Dongpo Grand Theater, and invite the China Academy of Performing Arts to cooperate in its operation. Renowned theater director Lin Zhaohua has been invited to serve as the artistic director of the theater.

That evening, at the reopening and premiere ceremony, Qin Wenhuan, Deputy General Manager of China Foreign Culture Group, Wang Zisheng, Party Committee Member and Vice President of Hangzhou Wenguang Group, Zhang Li, Executive Director and General Manager of China Performance Theater Development Co., Ltd., Zhou Jiansheng, Chairman and General Manager of Hangzhou Donghan Cultural Communication Co., Ltd., Lin Zhaohua, Artistic Director of Dongpo Theater and Artistic Director of the play "White Snake", and others jointly witnessed the important moment of the reopening of Dongpo Grand Theater.

The on-site performance of the light song dance drama "White Snake", which was unveiled this time, was directed by Lin Zhaohua as the artistic director, and co created by director Lin Xiyue, screenwriter Yang Yunkun, stage design Tan Shaoyuan, composer and arranger Chen Lei, etc. Through modern technology, it presents a new story and visual experience that transcends the three realms of human, demon, and Buddha.

After renovation and upgrading, Dongpo Grand Theater has 1048 audience seats, upgraded from a single function tourism performance theater to a professional multi-functional theater.


At the same time, Dongpo Grand Theater is positioned as a comprehensive performing arts center for "international leading cultural and tourism integration", with the construction goal of "creating a demonstration window for cultural and tourism integration", using culture and art as carriers, relying on rich tourism resources, aiming to promote the level of cultural and artistic development in Hangzhou, while using culture to feed back tourism, further promoting the common prosperity of related industries, setting an excellent example for the perfect integration of Hangzhou culture and tourism, and comprehensively building a cultural and artistic center with tourism characteristics.
