Students from the Peking University Social Innovation Challenge Workshop came to the Beijing Yintai Center to conduct research and face-to-face communication with the management of the center for their upcoming "challenge" within the project. The Peking University Social Innovation Challenge Workshop is jointly organized by Guanghua Yintai Public Welfare Management Research Center, The DO School, a leading global social innovation education platform, and Yintai Public Welfare Foundation, and is open to all Peking University students. After screening, 20 students accepted the "challenge" proposed by Intime Charity - to use idle commercial space to design a diversified, innovative, and experiential upgraded retail industry solution with public welfare nature, targeting the surrounding and larger social problems they face, while creating social influence and increasing customer flow and potential consumption. This teaching topic is divided into two stages: [Online Course]: In mid January 2017, about 8 hours aimed at building a sense of community among participants, accompanied by relevant global social innovation theories and case studies, to prepare adequately for offline workshops. [Offline Course]: From February 12th to 17th, 2017, Peking University Guanghua School of Management taught participants the key skills to solve problem challenges and develop solutions based on the teaching methods of DO School. Through six days of offline learning and practice guided by mentors and experts, students design and propose solutions to challenges - meeting the requirements of social innovation and creating social impact, as well as the demands of sustainable business development. For this challenge, these 20 Peking University students from 8 countries and 5 colleges, who are concerned about social innovation, visited the Beijing Yintai Center in depth that day, communicated and learned from the store managers of in01 selected shops, and gained a further understanding of the real reflection of theoretical knowledge in books after practical implementation - this makes this "challenge" more operable for future implementation. The investigation and research of in01 has ended, and the students had in-depth conversations with the General Manager of Beijing Yintai Real Estate Co., Ltd. and two Deputy Directors of In01 Business Operations. On the day of the survey, which happened to be Valentine's Day on February 14th, students participated in on-site promotional activities. Each girl also received roses carefully prepared by Beijing Yintai Center in01, successfully ending the day's survey. After investigation and research, Peking University students who are concerned about social innovation will tailor multiple creative "business+public welfare" win-win solutions based on the actual situation of Beijing Yintai Center. We also look forward to these inspiring solutions truly taking root in the project and achieving sustainable development. As Ms. Yin Xiaozhou, General Manager of Beijing Yintai Real Estate Co., Ltd., mentioned: "In the landmark public area of this CBD core area, accompanied by noise and fast pace, we encourage young people to express open social welfare behaviors with fresh perspectives, rich imagination, and creativity in the simplest and most direct way possible; At the same time, with a pragmatic attitude, we will plan a practical and sustainable solution that combines business and public welfare around the population and spatial form here. We will continuously inspire and refine their ideas, ultimately achieving a good and implementable outcome. This is not only a good practice and self-improvement for students, but also has practical significance for the public area of commercial projects themselves. It can also express the willingness of the people in Beijing Yintai Center, a high-end business community, to participate in social welfare undertakings as part of their daily lives. The actual on-site investigation results also indicate that everyone is very interested and willing to participate in this. ” Beijing Yintai Center wishes Peking University's Social Innovation Challenge Workshop a complete success!
