Shen Guojun was invited to become the first Chinese entrepreneur member of the "Friends of Ocean Action"

8 On the 25th and 26th of the month, the "World Economic Forum 2021 Ocean Action" roundtable meeting was held in Beijing. Shen Guojun, founder and chairman of Yintai Group, founder and honorary chairman of Yintai Public Welfare Foundation, and executive chairman of Taohuayuan Ecological Protection Foundation, was invited to become the first Chinese entrepreneur member of the "Friends of Ocean Action" and attended the roundtable meeting to deliver a speech.

This forum is jointly hosted by the World Economic Forum and "Friends of Ocean Action", bringing together ocean participants from different fields in China to explore how governments, businesses, academia, and other parties can work together to protect marine biodiversity and promote the health and prosperity of the ocean in the era of ecological civilization and carbon neutrality.

Shen Guojun, who grew up by the seaside since childhood, has a deep love for the ocean and has a profound understanding of ecological changes and ocean conservation. He expressed his great pleasure in joining the "Friends of Ocean Action" organization and hopes to benefit Chinese public welfare organizations that are concerned about the ocean through exchanges and learning with experts, scholars, and officials from the "Friends of Ocean Action". He also looks forward to actively playing a role in the "Friends of Ocean Action" in the future and participating more in ecological and marine themed activities.

For a long time, under the guidance and promotion of Shen Guojun, Yintai Group and Yintai Public Welfare Foundation have been paying close attention to and supporting ecological protection, recognizing the importance of marine protection, and carrying out a series of public welfare activities around marine protection and education.

01  Marine public welfare talent cultivation

Since 2016, Yintai Public Welfare Foundation, Taohuayuan Ecological Protection Foundation, and the Parker Foundation in the United States have jointly launched the "Blue Pioneer" program to cultivate marine public welfare talents. At present, the program has been held for four consecutive sessions, cultivating more than 80 marine protection public welfare talents. In the future, we will continue to cultivate more marine public welfare talents and incubate 20 marine public welfare organizations.

02  Marine Ecological Protection Practice

Intime Group is committed to marine conservation practices. The Dongluo Island Scenic Area in Sanya, operated by Intime Group, allocates special funds every year to protect and restore coral reefs through artificial island guarding, resistance to damage, and protection of marine ecology. At present, the survival rate of artificially planted corals in this sea area is over 70%, and the coral coverage rate has increased by 10%, gradually reversing the trend of biodiversity degradation.

03  International Exchange on Marine Ecological Protection

Yintai Public Welfare Foundation and Taohuayuan Ecological Protection Foundation jointly expand international exchanges in marine ecological protection, and cooperate with OceanX, a marine exploration project founded by Ray Dalio. In the next three years, they will jointly promote marine scientific research and exploration, promote international exchanges and dialogue in professional fields, and enhance public awareness.

04  Advocating for marine ecological and environmental protection policies

As a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Shen Guojun actively advocates for marine protection policies. During the 2021 National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, he submitted proposals related to blue carbon sinks, suggesting that blue carbon sinks be included in China's nationally determined contributions to addressing climate change, becoming a part of China's climate change policy system, and guiding and encouraging Chinese enterprises and institutions to use blue carbon sinks as an important way to achieve "carbon neutrality".


In addition, public places of commercial landmark projects such as shopping centers, office buildings, and hotels under Intime Group also continuously hold exhibitions and displays related to ecological environment and marine protection to raise people's awareness of marine ecological protection.
